Terms and Conditions

The rules for using the News Intelligence API and tools.

Version: 9 October 2026. These terms are an agreement between you (and the organisation you act for) and PIJAlance Magazine Limited ("PIJAlance", "we", "us"). They cover the News Intelligence API, the workspace, the tools and the community at api.chatniai.com (the "Service"). By creating a workspace, signing in, or using an API key, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use it

The Service is for organisations: newsrooms, NGOs, election bodies, universities, communications teams and similar. You must sign up with a work email, and you must have the authority to accept these terms for your organisation. Workspaces are not for personal use.

2. Your account and keys

You are responsible for everything done with your workspace and its API keys. Keep keys secret, revoke any key you think has leaked, and tell us if you suspect misuse. Workspace owners decide who joins their team.

3. What the Service does, and what it does not

The Service gives machine-assisted fact-checking and research with sources. Results can be wrong or out of date. They are not legal, medical, financial or professional advice, and they are not a substitute for editorial judgement. Always read the sources and confirm before you publish or act. You remain responsible for what you publish.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to break the law, to harass or target private individuals, to produce or spread disinformation, to attack or overload the Service, to resell it without our written agreement, or to try to extract our models or data. Thoth and similar research tools are for public roles, statements and records only. Read Responsible use.

5. Your content, and how we may use logs to improve our models

You keep ownership of the text, links, files and other material you send ("Your Content"). You give us a licence to process Your Content, and the results and logs it produces, to run and secure the Service and to support you.

You also agree that we may use the logs of your use of the Service, including the content you submit and the results returned, to train, test and improve our own models and the Service. By using our models, you consent to this. We do not sell your content, and we do not publish it. Where we can, we will remove names, email addresses and other direct identifiers before using it for improvement. If you cannot accept this, please do not use the Service. You can write to us at any time to ask about your data (see the Privacy Policy).

6. Allowances, credits and payment

Free workspaces have a monthly allowance of checks, and a small number of free uses of each tool a month, as shown in your workspace. Premium workspaces work on credits: each check or tool use takes one credit, a daily amount of credits is available, and used credits come back as the last 24 hours pass. When a premium workspace has used its credits it can wait for them to come back or buy more credits. Bought credits do not expire while the workspace is active. Prices, plans and amounts can change; we will show them before you pay. Paid plans and credit purchases may not be open yet; where they are not, the workspace says so. Fees already paid are not refundable unless the law says otherwise.

7. Availability

We work to keep the Service running but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We rely on other providers, and we may change, limit or stop features, with notice where we reasonably can.

8. Suspension and ending

We may suspend or close a workspace that breaks these terms or puts the Service or others at risk. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue (including 5, 9 and 10) continue after the agreement ends.

9. Liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or harm from material published or decisions taken on the strength of a result. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will first try to settle any dispute in good faith. Failing that, the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If we make a material change we will ask you to accept the new version before you carry on. To reach us, use the community or pijalance.com.
