Responsible use
How to use an automated fact-checker without letting it mislead.
- It is a tool, not a judge. Read the sources before you rely on a verdict, especially one with medium or low confidence.
- Always publish the disclosure. Readers should know the check was made by AI.
- Never present a held claim as a finding. It means no one has decided yet.
- Do not use it to harass or profile private people. It is for checking public claims.
- Correct yourself. If a check was wrong, fix the story and tell us.
- Be careful with names. A claim about a named private person needs a human decision before you publish.
CarefulAutomated checks can be wrong. They are strongest on claims that official sources and established outlets have reported, and weakest on very new events, local rumours and private matters.
