Overview
What the API does, who it is for, and what stays yours.
The News Intelligence API checks claims. You send text; it finds the claims inside it, searches trusted sources, weighs the evidence, and returns a verdict with its sources and a write-up. It is built by PIJAlance Magazine for newsrooms, and it is open to any organisation that needs to check what it publishes or shares.
What you get
- A verdict from nine options, with a confidence level.
- Sources, each with a link, a publisher and whether it supports or disputes the claim.
- A write-up ready to publish, in your house style and the language you choose.
- A disclosure line saying the check was made by AI. You must publish it with the write-up.
- Held claims: the ones it cannot settle, sent to your own editors.
What is yours, and what is ours
| Yours (you control it) | Ours (it never changes for you) |
|---|---|
| Team members and roles | The checking engine and models |
| House style and tone | The evidence search and source trust ratings |
| Your review queue and editor decisions | The verdict rules and the nine verdicts |
| API keys and the activity log | The AI disclosure wording |
Why this mattersYour house style changes how an answer is written. It cannot change what was found. Nobody can configure the engine to return a friendlier verdict.
Who it is for
Newsrooms are the main audience: fact desks, digital desks, and CMS teams that want a check before something goes live. Other organisations use it too: NGOs, election monitors, universities, communications teams and platforms that need to vet what is circulating.
What it is not
- It is not a replacement for editorial judgement. It tells you what the evidence shows and how sure it is.
- It is not instant for long text. Use async mode for anything longer than a sentence or two.
- It does not check images or audio through this API yet. Text only.
